Game of Thrones season 8 episode lengths revealed
It’s not long left now until the much anticipated season finale of Game of Thrones, and it has seemed like ages since this awesome series last graced our television screens.
In fact, it has been ages. The last episode was The Dragon and the Wolf when Jon Snow and his gang of merry warriors presented Queen Cersei with the wight at the Dragon Pit. Oh how long ago that seemed, way, way back in August 2017, if you can believe that! It’s getting on for two years, so season 8 is well overdue!
April 14th is the day the show returns, and we simply cannot wait. We’ve already had the trailer (about time on that, too!) and now HBO has released information on exactly how long each of the six episodes in the series is going to be.
Okay, is may only be six episodes, making the final season also the shortest, but we’ve been promised big things. In fact those who have been privy to some private screenings of the episodes (minus the CGI effects) have said we’re in for a real treat and it’s going to be like watching six movies. Woohooo….
That is also reflected in the episode times as well, with the final three of the season being the longest episodes to date. Below is how each episode fares in terms of length…
Episode 1: 54 minutes
Episode 2: 58 minutes
Episode 3: 60 minutes
Episode 4: 78 minutes
Episode 5: 80 minutes
Episode 6: 80 minutes
A whopping 80 minutes for each of the last episodes is okay by us! That’s half an hour-ish more than the episodes were back in the first season.
And another titbit of information for super fans – the season premiere of Season 8 is the only episode in the series not to come with an “adult content” warning. The calm before the stormy seas around the Iron Islands, possibly? Who knows… but we don’t have to wait too long to find out anymore…
Teleport to April 14th please!
