10 spooky X-Files inspired face masks
Let’s be honest, 2020 could be pretty much straight out of an episode of The X-Files, it really has just been that bizarre a year.
We think even Mulder and Scully would struggle to get their heads over the events of the last few months, which has inspired us to come up with our favourite X-Files themed face masks so you can show your love for some 1990s supernatural nostalgia while helping curb the spread of the virus at the same time.
Below we list our own original designs mixed with some great third party designs that we also love!
As a quick disclaimer, these masks are not designed for those on the front line, and should not be considered approved PPE. If you’re a first responder or someone who has been advised to wear a medical mask, you should stick to approved PPE. Additionally, these masks should be used in conjunction with existing advice surrounding pandemics, including social distancing.
Our top X-Files Face Masks
The Virus May Be Extraterrestrial Mask
Could the virus come from aliens? That always seemed to be the case when Mulder was investigating. Who knows, but this line was muttered by Fox Mulder in the Fight the Future X-Files movie, and is presented here with the iconic X-Files logo.
Stand Back Mask
A nod to science proponents, stand back and watch Scully as she “sciences”. After all, it’s science that’s going to have to get us out of this mess. Third party design.
Mulder and Scully 2020
Can’t think of anyone who you want to vote for in 2020? Then endorse Mulder and Scully. You know they will try and uncover all government corruption and conspiracies and may be – finally – we’ll learn the truth about aliens. I want to believe!
The Truth Is Out There Opening Credits Mask
The opening credits of almost every episodes of The X-Files finished with the image of a stormy sky against darkened mountains and The Truth Is Out There emblazoned across the sky. It’s been recreated for this face mask.
Trust No One Opening Credits Mask
This design features the iconic opening credits with the alternative Trust No One caption adorned across the stormy sky and mountains, which featured in a handful of episodes.
X-Files Handprint Face Mask
True X-Files fans will instantly recognise the opening credits handprint that graces the start of each X-Files episode since the beginning. It was always one of the spookiest moments of the opening credits if you ask us.
X-Files Plasma Globe Face Mask
Another entry from the X-Files opening credits, here we’ve reimagined the plasma globe orb that makes a brief appearance during the opening credits, and just like the handprint design above, will be instantly recognisable for any X-Files aficionado.
Big Blue Face Mask
If obscure X-Files references are your jam, then this Big Blue themed design that appeared in the Quagmire episode during series 3 should suffice. It’s a replica of the billboard advertising when Mulder and Scully enter the lakeside town to investigate the killings attributed to the US version of ol’ Nessie.
The Truth Is Out There Mask
One of our favourite masks featuring the iconic logo and the TV show’s most enduring mantra, The Truth Is Out There.
I Want To Believe Mask
Based on the basement poster in Fox Mulder’s office, the famous I Want To Believe poster is one of the most recogniseable poster designs thanks to The X-Files, and its simple yet effective message is one that has always resonated with many fans. And now you can have it on a face mask, too.
Trust No One Face Mask
Perhaps quite an apt slogan given how viruses transmit from person to person. You can’t really trust anyone not to have it, so pop this mask on and make sure you practise social distancing.
Spooky Comic Face Mask
This third party design is awesomely retro and we love that. Based on a fictional “spooky” comic, it features Mulder and Scully in action as they battle to fight ghouls, demons and aliens. The adventures of two FBI special agents!!!
Believe Face Mask
This colourful third party design has everything! Mulder. Scully. A UFO with tractor beam. Even a cigarette from Cigarette Smoking Man, all combining to make an unmistakable X across the design, with the words BELIEVE in the center.
Monster of the Week Mask
One of our favourite third party designs, this mask features all of the most well loved “monster of the week” bad guys, including that things from The Host, the twins from Eve and the vampire pizza delivery boy, as well as a host of others, all joining Mulder and Scully for this brilliant design.
