What is Print-on-Demand?
Unlike many other retailers, we don’t bulk produce thousands of our products and ship each out once an order has been made. Instead, we use a business model called Print-on-Demand. Here we explain what that is, and why we use it.
The vast majority of the products we sell directly on this website and on our Etsy store are Print-on-Demand. This essentially means “made-to-order”. When you place an order, your product doesn’t exist yet. We fulfil it using our contracted fulfilment centre once you make your purchase, and then we ship it straight out to you.
In the spirit of being completely transparent, the biggest drawback to this is that it can add a little bit of extra processing time before we can deliver you your item compared to retailers that have already printed products in bulk and are just waiting to ship them out. However, this delay is usually only a day or two. Our average turnaround time between order and delivery is 4-7 business days.
But let’s talk about why Print on Demand is good…
Firstly, it means we don’t need to overproduce products. Making products on demand instead of in bulk helps reduce overproduction, so thank you for making thoughtful purchasing decisions!
It also means that products are made especially for you – literally! Your product hasn’t been idly sitting in a warehouse for months or years watching reruns on UK Gold. It is completely brand new – and wouldn’t even exist unless you made your purchase, which we think is kind of cool!
And best of all, it gives us the freedom to produce designs we wouldn’t normally consider doing under normal retail models, because there is no obligation/risk to print our products in bulk only to discover they don’t sell. We get to test unusual, risqué, quirky or offbeat product designs with little downside to ensure that we know exactly what our customers like, instead of having to run some mundane “play the odds” formula, which usually results in churning out the same “popular” designs that sell okay elsewhere.
What happens after you make an order…
Once you make an order, we’ll automatically send out a confirmation email confirming we received payment and order details.
Within 48 hours (usually within 24 hours) you’ll get another email from us with an estimated delivery window. This means your design is now very soon to be fulfiled.
And finally, once your order is finished and leaves our warehouse, we’ll send a final email with your tracking number, so you can track your freshly-made item all the way to your door!
So check out our range of products and if you have any feedback or questions for us, please feel free to head over to the contact page and give us a shout.
